Microsoft Releases its Chromium based Edge Browser for windows 7, 8 and 8.1

Last week, Microsoft announced that it will be releasing its Edge browser to older versions of Windows OS.

The newly released browser has done away with Microsoft’s in house web technologies and has been built with the open source web rendering engine Chromium

Some may see it as strange that Microsoft is releasing its new Browser on older Operating System (particularly ones coming to their End of Service.) However Microsoft deemed it as a good opportunity to get as many people using it so bugs are reported quicker.

The browser can be downloaded from Microsoft Edge insider site, and comes in 3 flavours. Beta, Dev and Canary, with Canary being available initially

So, your browser… are you going to make the change? 🤪 #notlikely
