You are here:The Open-Source Community Are Calling For Open Source Flash

Open Source Flash Media Player

A petition has been started Github, requesting Adobe open source flash media player. This was launched a day after the company announced it would end support for the application in 2020.

Juha Lindstedt who started the petition explains “Flash is an important piece of Internet history and killing Flash means future generations can’t access the past,”

Many agree with him (including us) as his petition has already been signed by over 3000 people.

Doing this will ensure a huge part of the of the sites out there will mot die off in 2020

If Adobe does open source Flash, that would give the open source the ability to support at least a month minimal version of it, or at least be able to port its components yo the HTML5 standard, “Another possibility would be to have a separate browser,” continued Lindstedt “Don’t know how, but that’s the beauty of open source: you never know what will come up after you go open source!”

We totally agree since adobe won’t be needing the product anymore, pass it to the community who will no doubt keep it a live from 2020 and beyond.
