You are here:Study shows Mobile Skills are most in demand in the IT Job Market

Tech Cities Job Watch report shows demand for IT staff with mobile skills went up by 39 percent in the past year, out doing web development, which was the previous number one. The report shows that contractor roles have also risen by 26 per cent for the same skill set.

However the study also shows despite the increase in the job market, salary and day rates have not increased much and only grew by 1% and 2% respectively.

“Despite the growth in app development across the tech industry, the results show an apparent disconnect between increasing demand for these roles and the salaries they command. We’ve seen an explosion in the Internet of Things (IoT) in recent years, with multiple industries experimenting with new Mobile and Web applications,” says Martin Ewings, director of specialist markets at Experis UK & Ireland

“Both disciplines play an integral role in innovation within organisations, as developers continue to build and experiment with this connectivity. But the results from this research tell us that companies are taking a new approach to tackling the technology skills crisis they are facing in this area.”
